Tao and Alma run Gokurakugai Troubleshooter Agency, a "problem solver" agency, in Gokurakugai, a working class city district populated by humans and beastmen. The duo take up odd jobs, such as missing persons cases and retrieval of incriminating evidence for businessmen. Unease in the city grows as disappearances increase and disfigured animal corpses are found. While investigating disappearances, the duo are attacked by Disaster Beasts (禍, Maga), monsters who were once human. The duo's cases continue to explore further into the hidden dark side of the city.
